About Us

Ray and Jan Beichner

Jan and Ray Beichner started building Turtle Bay Lodge in 1996 and finished the lodge in May of 1998, just in time for their daughter, Renee’s wedding to her husband, Rick Irwin. They were given the opportunity to purchase the hunting cabin next door. It was a cement block building that Ray thought would make a nice garage. But Jan thought that a bed and breakfast was a better idea! Since Ray loves to build, he immediately started working to clear the lot, and with the help of friends and contractors, they began building Turtle Bay Lodge.

Ray enlisted the help of his Amish friends, and everyone worked very hard to finish the lodge. Jan and Ray loved owning a bed and breakfast and soon had many requests for cabins. So they decided to build a large cabin down the road that they named Eagles Landing. They added Turtle Dove Cottage to complete their special get away where others can enjoy this beautiful area and the scenic Allegheny River. Jan and Ray have made many good friends and enjoy meeting their guests from the surrounding area and other states and countries. They just love this business and are so happy that they have the opportunity to share their dream with others!

Miss Breanna Room was named after Jan and Ray’s first granddaughter who was seven when they completed the lodge. Ray always said she was a future president. Breanna loved to give tours of the lodge. She was just as excited as they were to have this amazing opportunity. Breanna is now 23 and works at Hamot Hospital in Erie and attends Mercyhurst College. She is a full time student, works 50 hours a week and just purchased a home in Erie. They are very, very proud of her and her best friend Bryan.
